How does Order Time consume Inventory?
Solution:
Anytime Order Time is automatically using or consuming inventory, such as when creating a ship doc, it will follow certain rules to determine what inventory will get used up first.
- If the document has any linked dependency transactions (such as creating a PO from an SO) any inventory brought in from that dependency will be used first.
- The system has a setting to then say any inventory in the default bin assigned to the item should be used next.
- If the item has lot/serial # tracking turned on, the lot/serial #s with the oldest exp dates will be used next.
- If the item does not have lot/serial # tracking, the inventory records with the oldest date/time modified will be used next.
Anything after these sorts are enforced is random.
