QuickBooks Online: New Automated Sales Tax

QuickBooks Online: New Automated Sales Tax Issue:

I was setting my items to Non-Taxable or Taxable in Order Time and it was passing to QuickBooks Online just fine. Now it doesn't seem to be passing that info across during the sync anymore, what gives?

Solution:

QuickBooks Online has now added a new Automated Sales Tax feature. Here is a quote from their site:

Simplify how you track your sales tax returns. You can let QuickBooks calculate sales tax for each sale based on what you sell, where you sell, and where you ship. QuickBooks knows the tax rules, wherever you run your business.

This feature is automatically setting the Sales Tax when you sync the sale based on business rules that QuickBooks has set up. There is more information on this system here:

If you would like to let Order Time handle what is taxable and non-taxable, here are the instructions for how to revert back to Manual Sales Tax handling.

Here's how:

  1. Click Taxes.
  2. Click Sales tax settings at the top right.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see "Want to temporarily switch to the old tax center? Switch here." Click Switch here.
  4. Click Switch.

Note: You can no longer re-enable this feature after disabling it.
