Overview
Order Time supports various item types, each one suiting a different need for how the item will be used, tracked and reported on. The type that is assigned to the item will dictate the ways that the system handles the item. For example, parts and assemblies are the only item types that can have in stock quantities tracked in inventory. This means specific unit costing and lot/serial # tracking can only be performed on these items as well.
The chart below will guide you how items are configured within your organization.
Part | Assembly | Non-Inventory | Kit | |
Track Inventory | Yes | Yes | No | No |
Build/Configuration | No | Yes | No | Yes |
Requires Work order | No | Yes | No | No |
Lots/Serial Number | Yes | Yes | No | No |
- Items will only be tracked in inventory when they are a part or assembly.
- A build/configuration is not a part of an assembly and it could be part of a Kit.
- A work Order is not a part and it is used in the assembly process.
- A lot and serial number are used for individual parts and they can be a part of an assembly.
